Monash University is seeking an experienced Occupational Health Physician to provide specialist occupational health services and advice to the University community, both in Australia and at its international campuses.
About the role:
The Occupational Health Physician (OHP) works within the Health, Safety and Wellbeing team and is responsible for providing targeted occupational health advice so that staff and students can safely engage in all education/work-related activities with minimal risk to health and safety. The Asbestos Diseases Society of Australia Inc. (ADSA) is a caring, non-profit, organisation supporting those exposed to asbestos and other dust diseases since 1979. The updated Occupational Health and Safety Regulations have improved the dust diseases testing and ensured all employees (including contractors and casuals) are equally tested and protected. Further to this, through DIY and other non-occupational activities we are seeing a rise in dust diseases from the general community.
The ADSA works closely with GPs, Respiratory Specialists, Radiology and Oncology, UWA & the IRH to ensure patients at risk or suffering from dust diseases have specialised care. Should a patient scan show incidental findings not related to dust disease these are referred to their family GP for continued treatment and management of any workers comp processes if required.
An opportunity to invite a GP into our organisation alongside Nurse Practitioner and retiring GP. Our NP offers extended pastoral care appointments, spirometry, runs support groups and other activities to support patients. The hours/employment arrangements are negotiable to attract the best possible candidate with a min requirement of 15hrs per week. The practice uses MediRecords and the ADSA has extensive CRM.

- It is essential that you hold registration to practise medicine in New Zealand and have a Diploma in Aviation Medicine (or equivalent).
- You’ll have demonstrated a high level of expertise in the field of aerospace medicine and hold expertise in regulatory safety medical decision making.
- Ideally you’ll hold Fellowship level recognition by the Australasian College of Aerospace Medicine and Postgraduate qualifications in the field of Occupational Medicine.
- Work experience in the area of civil or military aviation medicine, aviation human factors, aircraft accident investigation and operational aviation experience is preferred.
- The Civil Aviation Authority strongly encourages and supports all their people to be vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19. However, the current policy position is that vaccination is not a requirement for employment in this role. Please note that the Authority may, if needed, introduce a vaccination requirement for managing an epidemic.
