Lead Occupational Physician (Cogent Thinking, Sydney)
Cogent Thinking is seeking a Lead Occupational Physician to support our key occupational health programs as a contractor or permanent part time role.
Cogent Thinking is a Melbourne-based national provider of comprehensive solutions for workplace health, wellbeing and productivity. We specialise in delivering best practice injury prevention, incident response and care coordination services that are tailored to the specific requirements of Australian employers. We are seeking a Lead Occupational Physician to support our health assessments team to oversee and provide quality assurance to occupational medicine services provided by Cogent to key clients. We are seeking contractor or permanent part time role and a local presence in Sydney is required, however the opportunity to virtually work with customers nationally also exists.
Responsibilities
- Clinical leadership — Oversight of physician activities and service quality
- Medical report review — Ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Fitness‑for‑work decisions — Requesting diagnostics and specialist input
- Stakeholder engagement and collaboration— Managing complex or sensitive cases and meeting contractual clinical obligations
- Clinician training and supporting clinical governance — Onboarding, coaching, and capability building

Requirements
- Fellowship of the Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (RACP) with good standing
- Unrestricted/unconditional AHPRA registration as a Specialist Occupational Physician
- You must be an Australian citizen
- National Police Check
- Experience with emergency services and/or safety sensitive industries.
- Friendly, approachable and open to feedback.
- Preferably based in Sydney
