Dear delegates of ASM Fremantle 2017,
I wish to acknowledge each and every delegate, guest, speaker, and sponsor for helping to make this such a successful event. The hard work of all concerned has been rewarded with the enthusiastic involvement of so many different professionals under the theme of “Better Together”.
There were many highlights and the conference blended science, health, politics and history to help us think broadly about how we deliver improvements in workplace health. As always the site visits provided us with unique behind the scenes experiences, and hands on sessions such as Mental Health First Aid and CPR were well attended, as was the workshop exploring the role of occupational health nurses.
Fun was also high on the agenda and we were pleased to see so many delegates and their guests enjoying unforgettable moments such as the Torchlight Tour of Fremantle Prison, a world heritage listed building; the visit to the Shipwrecks Museum hosted by Hugh Edwards OAM, the Batavia shipwreck finder; the nautical-themed conference dinner and many more local attractions and activities. Even the post conference catch-up at the Little Creatures Brewery had a high attendance! Only ANZSOM offers the combination of professional development, friendship, fellowship, networking, and fun!
On behalf of the organising committee, we want to once again thank you for your support and attendance. See you all next year at the 2018 ASM in Melbourne.
Warm wishes
Dr Miguel Sergio Kabilio (President ANZSOM WA Branch, conference convenor) and Danielle Kabilio (Secretary ANZSOM WA Branch, conference co-convenor)
